Shantz Theatre is always looking for interns to help out in a variety of capacities. We have administrative, artistic and marketing/pr internships available. Interns are unpaid, but receive valuable experience, free tickets, and college credit can be arranged. We accept interns year round, and internship length can be anywhere from three months to a year. Artistic: Internships can be customized to the individual, but may include understudy positions, assistant director responsibilities, light & sound assistants, assistant stage managers, they may assist the literary department in reading and evaluating new plays, etc. Basically, the internship is molded to fit the individual.

Administrative: Administrative interns will work closely with the Artistic Director, Managing Director, Development Director and Marketing Director in a variety of capacities. Duties may include, assisting with grant writing/researching, developing budgets, assisting in the artistic decisions for the company (season selection, venue selection, casting, etc), assisting with front of house duties, and a variety of other tasks.

Marketing/PR: Inters will work under the Marketing/PR Director and work on direct marketing campaigns for the company. Interns will help formulate marketing strategies and campaigns for individual shows and for the company at large, as well as be the company's main "people on the street." Interns will be responsible for executing the marketing campaigns. Other duties may include drafting press releases, developing press materials, designing and/or developing promotional materials (posters, postcards, etc), contacting businesses to construct promotional deals, and similar duties.
